Jamshedpur: A massive online scam has been exposed in Jamshedpur’s Azadnagar and Kapali areas involving a fraudulent website named “Global Travels.”

The site reportedly duped thousands of investors of crores of rupees by promising double or triple returns on investments.
According to reports, the website operated on a chain referral model — users were encouraged to share their referral links with others, and each new registration and investment earned the previous user additional profit.
The minimum investment amount was Rs 1,800, while some invested lakhs.
To lure investors further, the platform also offered lucky draws with prizes like refrigerators, coolers, air conditioners, and gold coins.
The situation escalated on Monday night when a notification appeared on the website stating, “Due to technical issues, redemption (withdrawal) is not possible.”
Panic spread instantly among investors, many of whom rushed to the company’s office located at the Shopping Centre Apartment near Jesu Bhawan on Old Purulia Road.
On arrival, investors found the office completely deserted. Enraged, the crowd vandalized the premises, carrying away items such as refrigerators, air conditioners, computers, bulbs, and fans. The chaos forced nearby shopkeepers to shut their shutters.
Sources said that Global Travels operated another office in the Kapali outpost area, where similar scenes of unrest unfolded late at night. Police forces have since been deployed at both locations.
Preliminary investigation suggests that crores of rupees were transacted through the website before the operators went absconding.
Azadnagar police confirmed that an FIR has been registered and that the cyber cell is tracking the suspects’ digital footprint.
Authorities suspect this to be part of a large-scale online network marketing fraud that has ensnared hundreds of unsuspecting investors from across the city.
