Crane used for Chandrayaan-3 mission manufactured by Tata Steel Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, July 19: Tata Steel is part of the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3, as the Company’s state-of-the-art crane technology enabled the assembly of the mission’s “Fat Boy” – LVM3-M4 rocket. The advanced crane was manufactured at Tata Growth Shop in Jamshedpur, said a press communiqué issued by Tata Steel.

It said that the Company’s cutting-edge crane technology played a crucial role in the seamless assembly of the launch vehicle used in the landmark lunar mission.

Tata Steel supplied the remarkable Electric Overhead Traveling (EOT) Crane which was installed at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre – Sriharikota ISRO.

Through its contribution to the launch of Chandrayaan-3, Tata Steel reaffirms its commitment to fostering India’s technological advancement and growth.

The Indian Space Research Organisation launched its third lunar mission–Chandrayaan 3 on-board the heavylift LVM3-M4 rocket on July 14.

With the Chandrayaan-3 mission, scientists are aiming at mastering soft-landing on the lunar surface, a challenging technical aspect which is planned for late August. A successful mission would make India only the fourth country to achieve the rare feat after the United States, China and the former Soviet Union.

  2. This crane (450/60t x 37.5m span EOT crane) has been designed, manufactured, supplied, erected and commissioned at ISRO in the year 2018 by Tata Steel, Jamshedpur.
