Jamshedpur, March 18: The city is wearing a deserted look these days with Corona scare gripping people. Though no positive case has been found but still the city is under preventive mode. MGM Medical College has sent four foreign students back home. According to information, students from 2016 batch Farzana Islam from Bangladesh and Sugandha Rani Gupta from Nepal, while students from 2017 batch Puja Yadav and Snigdha who also came from aboard have also left the campus.

�Though there has been no positive case in our city but as per orders from the administration we have vacated our hostels and foreign students have been asked to go back home,� said an official of MGM Medical College.

Deputy Commissioner East Singhbhum, Ravi Shankar Shukla who took stock of the preparedness to combat the spread of pandemic Corona virus said the situation is much under control and there is nothing to panic. �We request people to cooperate with administration and take preventive measures,� said Shukla.

The DC said that all protective and curative measures were being put in place as per central and state governments� directives in the matter.

Meanwhile, three teams on Wednesday started scanning visitor registers at hotel, lodges, clubs and guesthouses.
� We have intensified our inspection. Separate teams have been constituted for areas under Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) and Jugsalai municipality. Each of the team led by special officers of the respective civic body are scanning registers and seeking details on a daily basis of visitors at each of the hotels, clubs, guest houses and lodges and submitting report at my office,� said East Singhbhum additional district magistrate (law and order), Nand Kishore Lal.

City manager Ravi Shankar Bharti conducted inspection at such hotels, clubs and lodges in Jamshedpur area and submitted report to JNAC special officer Krishna Kumar, similar drive was conducted in Mango by city manager MNAC, Nishant Kumar and report submitted to Deepak Sakay, special officer MNAC.

Hotels and guesthouses along Tatanagar Station Road and Jugsalai were inspected by city manager, Jugsalai, Rajendra Kumar and report submitted to Jagdish Prasad Yadav, special officer Jugsalai municipality.

Meanwhile, district administration has also activated inter-district and inter-state check-points at 12 locations. The check-points have been activated from Wednesday at Jagannathpur and Kaliadia (both in Baharagora), Chakulia (for visitors coming from Odisha and Bengal), Ghurabandha (bordering Odisha), Bodam and Patamda (Bengal), Potka and Hata (Odisha), Pardih (from NH-33), New Domuhani Bridge (NH-33), Adityapur Toll Bridge and Ghatshila.

�The senior superintendent of police East Singhbhum has deployed forces at each of the 12 check points while district administration has deputeed magistrate and district civil surgeon (Dr Maheshwar Prasad) will be deputing health officials for checking at such points on commuters especially in public and private transport for any flu-like symptoms so that they can be put under surveillance,� said Nand Kishore Lal.
