Coronavirus claims 8 lives, infects 266 in Jamshedpur

Jharkhand reports 13 deaths, 816 new cases

Jamshedpur, August 22: Thirteen patients died of Coronavirus while 816 new cases were reported in Jharkhand on Saturday, August 22.� Positive cases have climbed to 29047 while 310 people have lost their life due to the virus in the state.

Jamshedpur continues to top the casualty list with 8 patients losing their life on Saturday. Two deaths each has been reported in Ranchi and Hazaribagh while one person died of COVID in Koderma.

643 people have recovered and were discharged from various COVID hospital�s across the state on Saturday. 19015 people have recovered in Jharkhand till date while 9607 active cases are still present in Jharkhand.

In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has crossed 4800 mark.     

266 new cases were reported on Saturday, August 22 taking the East Singhbhum tally to 4993.

The district administration spokesperson informed that 266 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Saturday. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards. On the other hand 216 people recovered in Jamshedpur on Saturday. Eight people succumbed to coronavius at TMH, Jamshedpur on Saturday, August 22. Five people are from Jamshedpur (East Singhbhum) and two were from Adityapur (Seraikela-Kharsawan).

70-year-old Telco Aalok Vihar resident who was admitted to TMH on August 20 with fever and breathing problem died during treatment on August 22. He was tested positive for COVID.

Another Telco Nildih man who was 29-year-old died after suffering from heart attack also tested positive for corona.

Tata Steel Power House 4 employee was the third casualty in city on Saturday. 52-year-old resident of Kadma BH Area DBMS Flat was admitted to TMH on August 20 with fever and breathing problem died during treatment on August 22.

63-year-old woman of Adityapur in Seraikela-Kharsawan district was admitted to TMH with high fever and breathing problem on August 9 also died of corona on August 22.

Mango Old Purulia Road resident 76-year-old man also died of COVID-19 on August 22. He was admitted to TMH with high fever and breathing problem.

Sonari B Block resident 71-year-old man was admitted to TMH on August 21 with high fever and breathing problem. He also died of corona on August 22.

Adityapur Vastu Vihar resident 58-year-old man was admitted to TMH on August 21 and tested positive for virus. He also succumbed to COVID-19 on Saturday, August 22.   

135 people have died of coronavirus in Tata Main Hospital (TMH) till the filing of this report on late Saturday evening.  

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease.

The Jharkhand government has ordered an extension of lockdown related restrictions in the state outside containment zones, up to August 31, due to COVID-19 cases.

The order will come into effect from August 1. Meanwhile, Jharkhand government issued measures for the implementation of interstate quarantine protocol, to all Additional Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary, IG and Deputy IG.

The order said that �All economic activities permitted prior to this order shall remain permitted.�
