Jamshedpur, Feb 13: A woman of Golmuri has accused her husband, Mohammad Jasim, resident of Albela Garden, Kapali, of pressurizing her to embrace Islam. She has submitted a written complaint against him at the office of SSP Jamshedpur.
Sources said the woman had got married to Jasim some nine months ago after running away from her parents house. After marriage, Jasim and his relatives allegedly tortured her and put pressure on her to convert to Islam. The accused persons threatened to kill the woman for refusing to give in, sources said.
The woman somehow escaped from the house of her in-laws in the evening of 12th February last and reached her parental house. She said she did not want to go back to her matrimonial house. She sought legal action against her in-laws and security for her parents and herself, sources said.
The woman alleged that Jasim had induced her to elope with him on 15th May last and got married to her. Before marriage, Jasim had assured the woman that she will be free to profess her religion.
