Jamshedpur, Sept 12: The Congress today protested before the Deputy Commissioners office demanding reduction in the rate of fines imposed for traffic offences. A delegation of the Congress met the East Singhbhum district Deputy Commissioner and handed him a charter of demands that included provision of spot issuance of documents found lacking with vehicle riders at the place of checking. The party members pointed out that penalties for traffic offences were already in place but the sudden spurt in the fine amounts was making living difficult. They said that in many cases the fined amounts exceeded the cost of the vehicles. They demanded that the level of fines should be brought down to a minimum level.
Among those who were present during the demonstration were Congress district president Vijay Khan, Reyazuddin Khan, Prince Singh, Dharmendra Prasad, Aparna Guha, Ashok Chowdhary, Beauty Tiwary and other members.
