Saraikela, Aug 21: Saraikela not featuring in Prime Minister Narendra Modis Swachh Bharat Mission survey has raised many eyebrows and freckles of concern. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his video conferencing issued a survey report on the Swachh Bharat endeavor in which Saraikela did not find any mention. A concerned Saraikela Nagar Panchayat vice president and BJP leader Manoj Kumar Chowdhary pointed an accusing finger towards the alleged lackadaisical and half hearted approach towards Nagar panchayat Executive Officer Rajiv Ranjan Singh.
Chowdhary said, In spite of constrained financial resources, the state of cleanliness in Saraikela Nagar panchayat area during the period 2016-18 was comparatively much better thant the current disconcerting status. Expenses of nearly Rs 10 lakh are being incurred every month under ULB segments including salaries to city managers and wages to sanitary workers. In fact, they have spent crores of rupees in purchase of machinery and vehicles for maintenance.
The Nagar Panchayat vice president said that there were 11 Wards in its command zone. But, he accused that barring three or four Wards the rest of the command areas were in pathetic state. He accused the Executive Officer and other sanitary department staff members of posting photographs of cleanliness drives on social platforms without doing actual work. He also said that whatever garbage was being collected were being dumped on the river bank which was contaminating the water and harming the environment. He said that these acts were punishable under the provisions of the National Green Tribunal. If this state of affairs persists I shudder to think of the environmental hazards taking a greater toll in the very near future, Manoj Chowdhary said.
