CM blames Vidyut Baran Mahato for ditching JMM

Jamshedpur : Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren on Sunday addressed an election rally at Jalla College ground in Patamda in favour of the party candidate of Jamshedpur Niroop Mahanty. Sabita Mahato, widow of former JMM leader Sudhir Mahto , for the first time also campaigned for the candidate.

The Chief Minister said that there are many candidates in fray but the people of Jharkhand has emotional attachment towards the JMM’s symbol — the bow and arrows- and they must vote for it. He blamed Vidyut Baran Mahto for ditching the party.

Appreciating partys candidate from Jamshedpur, Soren said the JMM candidate Niroop Mahanty is a localite and has played an important role in the industrial growth of Jamshedpur and everyone should vote for him to ensure his victory.

Sabita Mahto who accompanied Soren also addressed the gathering. ” Our family members have dedicated their lives for JMM and we are proud of it. I would like to urge you all to vote for our candidate Niroop Mahanty and ensure his victory in the elections,” said Sabita, who made her maiden appearance in the election campaign.

Tribals have a history of living under peace and tranquility, it is our responsibility to ensure the peace and harmony exist here for the well being and progress of the state. Any differences should be solved with mutual understanding and discussions, said Soren.

He also said since time immemorial tribals have been in existence in the region, stretching from Maharashtra to Jharkhand and Anandman Nicobar to Andhra Pradesh, but they are still deprived of their rights.

We are equally responsible for the sorry state of the tribals. We must have to answer why even 60 years after the independence of the country constitutional rights of the tribals havent been safeguarded effectively, said Soren. He went on to accuse the successive governments at the Center for their indifferent approach towards the scheduled tribe community.

Appealing, to the tribal community, Munda said until and unless the scheduled tribe populace gets literate, unite and become aware of their rights comprehensive development of the community is not possible. Since majority of the population in the state resides in the rural periphery he said his government is focusing on developing the agriculture sector.
