City police to crack whip on traffic violators

Jamshedpur: District police is gearing up to tighten noose around violators of traffic rules in the city.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP), East Singhbhum, Amol Venukant Homkar, has asked traffic police officials and officials of various police stations to take strict action against heavy vehicle drivers and owners for flouting no-entry rules.

Homkar said traffic cops found guilty of allowing entry to heavy vehicles in no-entry zones or period will be dealt with strictly. He said a special training camp will be organized for the district police to improve the city traffic system.

The SSP said tips will be given to cops to control traffic fatalities and violation of road rules. He said preparations had been done to implement the plan. Once the Lok Sabha election results are declared, the plan will be implemented in full force, he said.

The SSP said the administration was concerned about the poor traffic system in the city. He said the department was mulling over plans to improve the traffic scenario and prevent road jams and other problems.

“One way rules should be adhered to strictly by all motorists so that the railway level crossing or other roads are not blocked. The department will be talking to private company officials to find solution to the problem of parking space crisis,” said the SSP.

The SSP said use of tags like Press, Police, Army or other names on vehicles should be stopped in order to take action against motorists having an intention of misleading police.

Homkar said an instruction had been issued to the police stations close to the Jharkhand-Orissa border on the state highway to remove encroachment from roads. Action will be taken against road encroachers and goods will also be seized.
