Jamshedpur: In a heartwarming celebration marking the impending Christmas festivities, schools in the city embraced the spirit of joy on the last working day before the winter vacation. Despite Christmas Day being just around the corner, the schools dedicated the day to commemorate the birth of Lord Christ and welcome the beloved Santa Claus.

The school campuses were transformed into festive wonderlands, adorned with Christmas trees, bells, stars, and snowmen. Students actively participated in the decorations, embellishing trees with balloons, cherries, and bells. The air resonated with the melodies of Christmas carols such as “Jesus Born Today,” “Bells Are Ringing,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” complemented by vibrant song and dance performances. A special hut was erected, depicting the serene scene of Jesus Christ’s birth.
The highlight of the celebrations was the arrival of Santa Claus, spreading joy as he distributed gifts and candies among the excited children. However, the true essence of giving was showcased by the students themselves, who went beyond receiving gifts and distributed daily essentials among the less fortunate. From soaps to pens and pencils, a variety of thoughtful gifts were shared among the students.
Notable schools like Carmel Junior College and St. Mary’s English School also organized similar festive functions on Friday. Staff, donned in Santa Claus attire, not only wished joy to all but also entertained the children with their spirited presence.
Reflecting on the significance of the celebrations, a teacher from Sacred Heart Convent School stated, “We have been celebrating this event for years. It’s not just about partying but about bringing happiness to the lives of those around you, which is the true spirit of the festival.”
A student, expressed, “The festival is no longer restricted to any single religion. I believe it is about celebrating, and that is what all people are doing. It marks the beginning of a celebration that will continue through the New Year. Celebrating Christmas before the winter vacation was great fun.” The celebrations echoed the inclusive and joyful spirit of the festive season, transcending religious boundaries for a shared sense of merriment and generosity.
