Jamshedpur, April 9: Carmel Junior College in association with Jamshedpur Chess Academy and All Jharkhand Chess Association will be organizing Inter School Team Chess Tournament (city Round) on 11 and 12 April, 2015 at the school campus, said Pradeep Mukherjee, Sports Coordinator of the school addressing a press conference on Wednesday.
He informed that this is the second time Jamshedpur will be hosting team chess tournament were the event in 2013 draw 10 schools the 2015 contest will also see 10 city schools participating of which 6 best teams will be selected to participate in Carmel All Jharkhand Schools Team Chess Tournament scheduled for 18 to 20 April. Pritam Singh, Secretary, AJCA said the competition will be held in two categories were students upto class 8 will be part of junior group while class 9-12 will be in Senior category. Each team will have four players.
Sister Sylvie, Principal of Carmel Junior College said the competition which is free of charge will be played in seven rounds and after the city round concludes six best teams from Jamshedpur along with four schools from other parts of the state including Sarla Birla Public School, Ranchi, DPS Dhanbad, Guru Govind Singh Public School, Bokaro will participate in Jharkhand round of the competition. Carmel Junior also announced their team which includes Vatsal Singhania, Bidisha Roy, Abhishek Kannan and Aturshari Das in junior category while senior group comprises of Ishant Gupta, Ronit Roy, Umang Rupani and Rupanjal Paul.
Pradeep Mukherjee also informed about the participating schools from Jamshedpur which includes hosts Carmel. Loyola, Sacred Heart Convent, St. Mary�s KSMS, KPS Kadma, Rajendra Vidyalaya, MNPS, DBMS English School and JH Tarapore.
Apart from Chess, Carmel School will also host ASISC Zonal Boys Football Tournament at Carmel Bal Vihar Ground from 27 to 30 July, 2015.
