Bus owners protest notice for seizer of vehicles for elections

Jamshedpur : Bus Owners Association has criticised forcible seizer of vehicles for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections by the district administration. The administration has asked bus owners to hand over their vehicles from April 11 to 18. DTO Sanjay PM Kujur has issued a notive in this regard. Taking a rigid stand on the issue, the association has demanded clearance of old dues and ensuring proper security to drivers and helpers.

Chandra Mohan Prasad of the association said that the news of seizer is also coming from several other parts of the State. Moreover, several vehicle owners are still waiting for the clearance of dues pending since 2011 by-election. The administration should first clear the dues if they want to take the services of truck owners he added.

He further said that if the administration applies force to seize their vehicles, the association will stand all bus, trucks and other small vehicles in the State at Chief Election Officer�s office in mark of protest.

Meanwhile, the association has also demanded insurance cover to all the drivers and helpers of the vehicles, who would be providing their services during the elections. �It is really a serious issue and the government must focus on the problems that would follow.

The distribution of essential commodities would weaken and prices go up if transportation system collapses following the seizure of vehicles for the election,” said Jasdev Singh Nagi a city-based truck owner.
