Jamshedpur, Dec 7: A disturbing video showing a youth being brutally thrashed late Saturday night at Shastri Nagar, Road No. 2, under Kadma police station, has sparked widespread outrage in the locality.
The viral footage shows two to three men, dressed in what appears to be police uniforms, repeatedly beating the youth with sticks.
Despite his desperate pleas for mercy, the assault continues unabated, with the victim collapsing on the road multiple times under the force of the blows.
Residents have strongly condemned the act, stating that even if the youth had been involved in any wrongdoing, the police should have followed due process by taking him to the station and initiating legal action—not subjecting him to a public beating. Some locals allege that the youth had committed no offence and was assaulted without reason, further fuelling public anger.
The video has since been widely circulated on social media, drawing intense criticism.
Meanwhile, the Kadma police station in-charge has categorically denied involvement, stating that no such action was carried out by their team and no youth was arrested.
This has raised a serious question: Who were the uniformed men seen in the video, and why did they assault the youth?
Residents have urged Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey to take immediate cognizance of the matter and order a high-level investigation.
Locals assert that only a thorough probe can reveal whether police personnel were involved or if someone misused police uniforms to undermine law and order.
