Ranchi: Police recovered the beheaded and nude body of an unidentified woman from River Swarnarekha near Hetu village in Jagannathpur police station area of the state Capital on Thursday.
Investigators suspect it to be a case of rape and homicide. They have failed to find the missing head of the deceased. An axe was however found near the scene. Cops suspect it was used by the killer to behead the victim.
The recovery of the body transpired in the morning. A large number of villagers rushed to the spot to identify the woman. The body was found floating in the river.
Jagannathpur police have registered a case of unnatural death in this connection. They sent the body to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science for postmortem examination.
