Jamshedpur : Satnam Singh alias Goldi surrendered along with a young woman before the senior superintendent of police, Amol V Homkar on Friday in the matter related to Arun Namata murder case. He was absconding after murdering on June 21 night. The woman, Preeti Jaiswal, who was involved in the murder of Namata also surrendered.
After surrendering before the police, Goldi (22) revealed that he killed Namata as the latter had duped him of Rs 1.5 lakh that he had given to the murder victim.
Revealing about the breakthrough, the senior SP said that right after shooting Namata dead, Goldi had on June 21 he along with Preeti had gone out of the city.
“We were working hard to nab him. During the investigation, we got an intelligence output that Goldi was hiding in a hotel in city. Following the tip off, we sent a team of policemen to Mumbai by flight and raided the place, but after raiding the hotel they came to know that Goldi, who was accompanied with a young woman, had returned back for Jamshedpur. This morning, the murder accused surrendered before me along with the woman,” said the senior police officer.
Homkar said the murder accused Goldi and his father Jagir Singh used to run `chit-fund’ business in which several local residents, including Namata and the young woman Preeti were members. He pointed while interacting with Goldi, Namata had misappropriated Rs 15 lakh which actually belonged to Preety and as much money belonging to Goldi.
” As per our investigation the accused had tried to get back his Rs1.5 lakh loan that Goldi had given Namata four months ago and also clear the misappropriated money amounting to Rs 30 lakh. As Namata expressed his unability to do so, Goldi made up his mind to kill him. On the night of June 21, the accused killed Namata in front of his house at Mahanand Bustee in Jemco,” said the senior police officer.
Homkar said that the police body-guard which had been provided to Goldi after his uncle Dalbir Singh Birre was murdered on December 10 last, has been withdrawn, and that they have recommended for cancellation of the arms licenses.
Namata who was married would stay at his house with wife and elderly mother who is a BJP activist. Goldi Singh, who is the nephew of the slain transporter Dalbir Singh Birre, shot dead Namata following an altercation over transaction of money at about 7.30 pm on Saturday.
Namata who was a gym instructor at Telco Club, was rushed to the Tata Motors Hospital, where he was declared as brought dead.
