Jamshedpur: The 75th edition of the prestigious Steel City Golf Tournament was inaugurated on Friday at the Golmuri Golf Course, marking the beginning of a three-day celebration of golf and sporting camaraderie.
Former Union Minister and former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Arjun Munda, an avid golfer himself, formally inaugurated the tournament. Munda also took to the course, showcasing his golfing skills on the lush greens and drawing appreciation from fellow participants.
Organisers Praised for Tournament’s Legacy
Addressing the gathering, Munda lauded the organisers for successfully sustaining the tournament’s rich legacy over the decades and highlighted its importance in promoting the sport and fostering camaraderie among golfers.
Several prominent personalities were present on the occasion, including Jamshedpur Golf Secretary Neeraj Kumar Sinha, Chief–Safety at Tata Steel Abhijit Avinash Nanoti, Managing Director of JCAPCPL Varun Bajaj, Chief–Corporate Services, Tata Steel B. Chandrashekhar, Ranaveer Sinha and Rajen Kamani.
Over 250 Golfers Competing Across Two Courses
The tournament is being played across the scenic 18-hole courses of both the Golmuri and Beldih Golf Courses. More than 250 golfers from cities such as Patna, Bhubaneswar, Paradip, Ranchi, Delhi and Jamshedpur are participating, with strong representation from the local golfing fraternity adding to the competitive spirit.
Closing Ceremony on Sunday
The closing ceremony will be held on Sunday, when T. V. Narendran, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel, will felicitate the winners.
Over the years, the Steel City Golf Tournament has earned a distinguished reputation for competitive excellence, meticulous organisation and warm hospitality, making it one of the most eagerly awaited sporting events in the region.
