Archana Dubey Is Vice Chairperson of Jugsalai Municipal Council

Jamshedpur: Archana Dubey emerged victorious as the Vice Chairperson of the Jugsalai Municipal Council following a competitive election held at the Jamshedpur Block Office on Monday. The victory sets the stage for a new leadership team, alongside newly elected Chairperson Nausheen Khan.

Oath-Taking and Election Process

The day began with Karn Satyarthi, Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum and District Election Officer, administering the oath of office to Chairperson Nausheen Khan and all 22 ward councillors.

Notably, Nausheen Khan—wife of Hidayatullah Khan—makes history as the first woman to hold the Chairperson’s office in the Jugsalai Municipal Council.

A Four-Way Contest

Following the swearing-in ceremony, four candidates filed nominations for the post of Vice Chairperson. The councillors cast their votes via secret ballot, resulting in the following tally:

Candidate Votes Received
Archana Dubey 11
Suresh Sharma Lipu 6
Irshad Haider 3
Rahat Hussain 2

Despite receiving backing from Hidayatullah Khan, candidate Irshad Haider managed only three votes, making Dubey’s 11-vote win a significant political development for the civic body.

Priorities for Jugsalai

In her victory speech, Vice Chairperson Archana Dubey thanked the councillors and pledged to prioritize civic infrastructure.

“I will work with the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and focus on the development of every ward in Jugsalai,” Dubey stated. She emphasized her commitment to inclusive growth and strengthening the town’s basic amenities.
