Ranchi : The statewide ‘Chakka Jam’ campaign, an agitation programme, launched by various organizations of Kurmis was partially successful on Wednesday as it paralysed normal life in many parts of the state.
Members of Kurmi Sangharsh Morcha took to the streets and raised slogans against the state government and demanded that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and the state government should
give due respect and a Rajya Sabha ticket to Savita Mahato, wife of late Sudhir Mahato, former deputy Chief Minister.
The agitators said the main purpose of calling the agitation was to put pressure on the JMM-led state government to give recognition to the family of late Sudhir Mahato.
The bandh affected transport services, academic and commercial activities and official work in government offices from dawn to dusk.
