Adityapur Police nab four in sand trader murder case

Jamshedpur, Dec 23: Adityapur police have arrested four persons in connection with murder of sand trader Sujoy Nandi and have claimed to solve the murder case which hogged limelight in the industrial hub of Adityapur- Gamharia recently.

Adityapur police has arrested a criminal Sanjiv Lohar,  along with three other criminals namely Rohan Thakur, Manik Das and Sukumar Das and claimed that murder was intended to stop Sujoy Nandi from giving witness in court in connection with a murder incident.

According to Seraikela-Kharsawan SP, Mohammed Arshi who addressed media at the Adityapur thana on Wednesday, they have also recovered pistol, cartridge and four mobile and a router from the possession of the criminals. Earlier, police had arrested Imdad, Ashish, Sagar Gope and Pradeep Mann in the same case.

“Sanjiv Lohar has confessed that they had an old rivalry with Sujoy Nandi and he was a witness in a criminal case in which Sanjiv Lohar was an accused and there was fear that if deposed in the court then they would face punishment. All the criminals have several cases lodged against them,” the SP said.

Sanjiv Lohar has two cases lodged against him in Adityapur thana, Rohan Thakur has seven cases lodged in Adityapur and RIT thana, Sukumar Das has cases lodged in Adityapur and Gamharia.

Notably, the sand trader was shot dead on December 16 morning near S Type Chowk in Adityapur and the murder led to public outrage against police with massive demonstration at Adityapur.
