Jharkhand man held for killing wife, burying body inside house

A man has been arrested in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district for allegedly murdering his wife with an axe and burying her body inside a room in his home. The victim, identified as Gurubari Hansda, had been missing for several days, raising concern among local residents in Tungi village, located within the Pandrashali police outpost limits.
Alerted by villagers about her mother’s mysterious disappearance, the victim’s daughter, Nagishri Gagrai, returned home to investigate. Unable to trace her mother and suspecting foul play, Nagishri lodged a formal police complaint accusing her father, Ram Hansda, of killing her mother and hiding the corpse.
Following the complaint, a police team led by IPS officer Raj Kumar Jairaju reached the village on Saturday and took the accused into custody for interrogation. Based on the information disclosed by Ram during questioning, the authorities recovered Gurubari’s exhumed body from a room inside the residence, as confirmed by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Chaibasa Sadar) Bahaman Tuti.
A specialized forensic team from Ranchi was called in to examine the crime scene, subsequently seizing the murder weapon and samples of blood-stained soil for detailed scientific testing.
During police interrogation, the accused confessed that a violent altercation had erupted between the couple on the night of October 17 after his wife allegedly failed to prepare food. In a sudden fit of rage, Ram struck his wife with an axe, causing her death, and subsequently buried her body inside the house to conceal the crime and evade law enforcement.
Police have secured the suspect and are continuing their investigation into the tragic incident.
