Jamshedpur, April 4: The spike in COVID-19 cases continues in Jamshedpur with 94 new infections reported on Sunday, April 4, taking the total tally to 1,92,65 mark. With new infections on the higher side, the caseload continues to witness a surge and Jamshedpur now has more than 600 active cases.
The hotspot areas of the Steel City Mango, Kadma, Sonari and Sakchi continue to witness a virulent spread of COVID.
Of the 1565 samples tested in Jamshedpur on Sunday 94 positives were reported.
The number of active cases went up to 604 and the total tally to 19265. No death was reported on Sunday as the death toll remained at 377.
The district administration said it would go for aggressive containment and stricter enforcement of health protocols such as wearing masks and keeping social distance.
The surge has led to an increase in hospitalisation.
On Saturday, East Singhbhum district saw 39 people recover of the virus.
Of the 94 new cases, 93 are from Jamshedpur urban area and one from Potka.
39 people recovered of the virus on Sunday taking the total recovery to 18284 while total active cases in Jamshedpur are 604.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 236041 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 95.37% while the mortality rate is 1.96 %.
So far in Jamshedpur 643125 samples have been collected out of which 628341 have been tested and 609076 have turned out to be negative.
