Jamshedpur, Jan 2: As the Nation gears up to eradicate coronavirus, East Singhbhum district health department officials carried out a dry-run for Covid vaccination at two health hubs in the East Singhbhum district on Saturday. A total of 50 health department workers were subjected to the dry-run for the Covid vaccines at the Sadar Hospital in Khasmahal in Jamshedpur and at the Ghatsila sub-divisional hospital on Saturday morning.

The dry-run was carried out as per the Central health ministry guidelines. The drive began at 9 am and continued till 12.30 pm in presence of district civil surgeon RN Jha and district chief medical officer, Sahir Pal at the Sadar Hospital and Ghatsila sub-divisional hospital respectively.
Jha said that they followed all the steps in carrying out the mock drill of the vaccination as per the Central health ministry’s guideline so that when the actual vaccination programme will start then they would not have to face any difficulty in the process.

” Based on the guidelines, we carried dry-run on 25 beneficiaries at the Sadar Hospital in Jamshedpur and as many beneficiaries at the government hospital in Ghatsila. Though all those subjected to the dry-run were the health department workers, we followed all the norms of real vaccination. Like we gathered information about the persons who are to be vaccinated, and finally the mock drill of vaccination and the uploading of data in an App — Co-win App,” said the district civil surgeon.

Jha claimed the dry-run carried out at the two health hubs in the district was a success and they are ready to kick up the Covid vaccination if they have to start it anytime.
The district administration has also come up with an action plan for easy administering of COVID-19 vaccine. The action plan involves the transportation, storage and administration of the COVID-19 vaccine in the district.

As part of the preparation, the district health department is converting a godown into a massive vaccine storage facility at the Old Civil Surgeon office premise, on Dhalbhum Road in Sakchi. This facility will be equipped with a cooler and fridge storage.
“ We have been instructed to be prepared for the planned distribution of the vaccine. For this we are setting up a storage facility. Steps are being taken as per guidelines of the Union Health Ministry. The facility will be up by the end of December,” said an official of the health department.
