Jamshedpur, Sept 11: Central and state governments are committed to the overall development and welfare of farmers. Various welfare schemes are being run in the state to motivate and support the farmers. The government wants to ensure financial uplift of all farmers and also wants to provide them pension scheme benefits. This was said on Tuesday by the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Ravi Shankar Shukla at a press meet organized at the Jamshedpur Collectorate.

Shukla said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would launch Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Pension Yojana from Jharkhand on 12th September. As many as 250 farmers from East Singhbhum would participate in the programme, he said.

The DC said the cards of around 2200 farmers had been printed under the said scheme. He said the government had started the pension scheme to provide financial assistance to farmers in their old age as they are completely dependent on agriculture for survival.

The DC futher said that as many as 4.7 lakh people had received Golden Cards under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. In all, there are 16 lakh beneficiaries of the scheme in the district, he said.
