Ranchi, Nov 1: In a proud moment for Jharkhand Police, 14 officers and personnel from the state, including two Inspectors General of Police (IGs), two Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), one Superintendent of Police (SP), one Deputy Commandant, two Sub-Inspectors, and six constables, have been selected for the Union home ministry’s Medal for Excellence in Service (2025).
The ministry announced the list of awardees on October 31, observed as the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrated nationwide as National Unity Day.
Recognition for Outstanding Anti-Naxal Operation
The decorated officers and personnel were part of a special operations team that achieved a major breakthrough against Left-Wing Extremism earlier this year.
On April 21, 2025, during a fierce encounter in Lugu Pahar under Gomia block of Bokaro district, the Jharkhand Police gunned down eight Maoists, including a most-wanted insurgent carrying a Rs 1 crore reward.
This decisive action was hailed as one of the most significant anti-Naxal successes in recent years, demonstrating the courage, planning, and efficiency of the Jharkhand Police.
