Ranchi, July 16:The JMM may have declared support to the NDA Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu but on Saturday, Chief Minister and party chief Hemant Soren invited Opposition nominee Yashwant Sinha to his official residence on the last day of his campaign.

Hemant Soren in his official twitter handle shared photographs of the meeting and said that the Yashwant Sinha ji met him and sought support during the Presidential poll.

Sinha, who himself hails from Jharkhand, landed in capital Ranchi on Friday and met with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) executive president and chief minister Hemant Soren.

“I appeal to the voters (the electoral college) to exercise their franchise after listening to the voice of their conscience,” Sinha said. “One person in the past had won as president when voting was done on the basis of their conscience. I believe the same will happen this time.”

Sinha’s election campaign in Ranchi comes two days after the ruling JMM announced its support to the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu.

Sinha, who served as minister of finance from 1990 to 1991 under prime minister (PM) Chandra Shekhar and again from March 1998 to July 2002 under PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee hails from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand.

Sinha, also served as the minister of external affairs from July 2002 until May 2004.
