Jamshedpur : Fr. Arrupe Centre For Ecology & Sustainability of XLRI- Xavier School of Management has joined hands with the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur and JUSCO Education Mission (JEM) Foundation to address issues concerning RTE ( Right to Education).
As first step in this direction XLRI is hosting the �Educating India: Every child in School workshop on December 6, at the Fr. Prabhu Hall, XLRI.
Prof. Sharad Sarin, chairperson, Alumni at XLRI said that, �The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act was introduced in the year 2009. Though laudable, its implementation is a big challenge. Post introduction, several issues and challenges for all the stakeholders (government, political leaders, private schools, social organizations and individuals) have emerged. We are hopeful that this workshop would help identify some specific actionable areas.�
Ruchi Narendran – management trustee, JEM Foundation, will be the key note speaker at the workshop. The other important speakers would be Pramod Sinha – State Programme Co-ordinator, Jharkhand, Bailey Bodhanwala – managing trustee Tarapore School, Chandra Shekhar – trustee DBMS and Lalieta Sareen, eminent educationist.
The one day workshop is being organized with the objectives of – taking a stock of the present state of the implementation of RTE in and around Jamshedpur; becoming familiar with the implementation challenges for stakeholders: Government and Private Schools, NGOs and individuals and discussing the possibilities of collaborative interventions to provide quality education to all children, especially the economically deprived section, on a sustained basis for long term.
The workshop would witness participation of 30 Principals from Government Schools and 40 Principals all across Jamshedpur. The key feature of the workshop would be 8 small group activities that would moderated by the Principals. The seminar would seek the views of the government officials, the Principals of Government and Private Schools and speakers from NGOs.
