World will be incomplete without women: Draupadi Murmu

    Governor attends the annual function of Bag-e-Ayesha madarasa at Bistupur

    Jamshedpur: Women are the backbone of society. Without them, the world would be incomplete. This was observed on Saturday by the Governor of Jharkhand Draupadi Murmu during the 15th annual function of Bag-e-Ayesha, a city-based madarasa, at Michael John auditorium, Bistupur.

    In her address, the Governor further said that there was an urgent need to accord maximum liberty to women so that they may build a better society. She said the talent and stature of women should not be undermined in the name of following social traditions or rites. She said women deserved all facilities and rights which establish their individual independence and existence.

    Murmu underlined the importance of gender equality and urged one and all to wage a battle against female foeticide and gender discrimination. She said women should be made to feel free and safe everywhere. She said equal treatment would enable girls to achieve greater success in their lives.

    The Governor said women represented half of the world and hence were a vital organ of society. In order to ensure speedy progress of society, women need to be educated and empowered at every level. The physical and mental health of women should not be ignored. Educated and healthy women will ensure faster progress of the nation,” she said.

    Murmu said all universities were directed to teach Martial Arts to women to ensure their security. Learning martial skills would boost the confidence of women, she said.
    Among other dignitaries present during the programme included the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop Birtharey.
