Jamshedpur: Jharkhand State Women’s Commission (JSWC) chairperson Kalyani Sharan met the victims of rape in different police station areas of the city and assured them of speedy justice.
She, accompanied by local human rights activists, visited Gandhinagar under Bagbera PS, Ranchi Road under Govindpur PS, Beldih Busti under Bistupur PS and Zone Number 10, Birsanagar under Sidhgora PS.
Sharan met the officers in-charge of police stations where the rape cases are lodged and sought updates on the cases. She sought report on the progress of police investigation and action taken by police against the accused persons.
She warned the police officers against showing slackness in dealing with the rape cases and other cases of atrocities against women.
The JSWC chairperson recommended departmental action against the officer in-charge of Bagbera PS for reportedly giving her wrong information regarding a rape victim. She talked to the SSP of Jamshedpur Anoop T Mathew and complained against the OC.
Sharan was informed by Bistupur police that three rapists of a woman from the area had been arrested.
The JSWC chairperson also came to know about the mysterious kidnapping of an eight year old girl from Govindpur police station area. The girl was released by the culprits. She had sustained severe injury marks on her body. Cops investigated the case, but failed to make much headway.
