Woman allegedly charred to death by husband


    Jamshedpur, Nov. 19: In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old woman was allegedly strangulated by her husband on Thursday. Police seized a semi-burnt body of the woman who died under mysterious conditions at her in-laws house in Mouda village under Bahragora police station area in Ghatshila sub-division.

    The police seized the body after the woman’s brother Harishankar Bhuiyan alleged that his sister was murdered by her husband. The police have also taken the deceased’s husband Uttam Jana under their custody following a written complaint from Bhuiyan.

    A mother of three sons, Manju Jana reportedly had a squabble with her husband on Wednesday after cattle went missing last morning. The fight led to the sad end of the woman. 

    Sources said one of the maternal uncles of the deceased, who also resides at Mouda village, came to know about Manju’s mysterious death and then informed her brother Harishankar Bhuiyan, a resident of Bagrachura village.

    Officer-in-charge, Bahragora police station, Chittaranjan Mishra, said that they have recovered a semi-burnt body and are investigating the possible reasons for her unnatural death. The officer-in-charge revealed that they have already taken the accused Uttam Jana under custody, and the accused will be arrested only after getting confirmed that it was a murder.

    The accused, Uttam Jana, who earns his living by working as a carpenter, claimed to be innocent.
