Jamshedpur : Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the smooth and incident free polling to the Assembly polls in Kolhan.
Officials said that necessary arrangements have also been made for deployment of forces in the district for the smooth conduct of simultaneous polls. There was no dearth of police personnel during elections. The police is fully geared up for the elections and all measures would be been taken to ensure free and fair elections.
The district administration has constituted 72 medical teams to be deputed in sensitive booths, mostly in Naxalite-affected areas of the parliamentary constituency. Each team would comprise a doctor, three paramedics and nursing staff.
In addition to this, micro observers have been deputed at 100 polling stations to keep an eye on every movement of the polling agents and on the suspicious characters, if any, at the naxal infested booths and also at urban area booths which are vulnerable from the law and order point of view.
East Singhbhum deputy commissioner-cum-returning officer for Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency, Amitabh Kaushal said that sensitive and super sensitive booths have been identified in the Assembly areas and security personnel would be deployed accordingly.
The police force of the district will be assisted by jawans of CRPF, Jharkhand Armed Police, homeguards, Rapid Action Police (RAP) and Rapid Action Force for maintaining security at the polling booths in the division.
Deputy inspector general of police, Kolhan Mohammed Nehal said adequate security arrangements have been made in East Singhbhum district and adjoining Seraikela Kharsawan district and also in West Singhbhum district,to ensure voting in a fearless atmosphere.
” We are confident that the pollings would be peaceful. We have deployed forces at the strategic locations in the rebel-hit areas in Ghatshila sub-division, Chowka-Chandil in Seraikela Kharsawan and Saranda in the West Singhbhum district. ,” said Nehal.
� We have also sealed the areas bordering Bengal and Odisha so that the rebels cannot act during the poll,” said the senior police officer. He pointed out the police in the bordering states will also maintain strict vigil during the polling at Kolhan especially during the second phase of the polling on December 2.
Except Ichagarh assembly constituency in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, the polling in rest of the 13 assembly constituencies will be held in second phase of the polling and that is on December 2. Polling at Ichagarh, which is also a rebel-infected area, will be held in the third phase on December 9. According to police sources,, over 20,000 of jawans belonging to Border Security Forces, CRPF, ITBP (Indo Tibetan Border Police) SSB JAP, Cobra have been pressed into service. Anti-landmine vehicles will also being deployed at the strategic locations.
A total of 1617400 voters will decide the fate of these candidates. A total of candidates withdrew nomination.
He said that after the scrutiny nine candidates from Bahragora, 11 Ghatshila, 12 each from Potka and Jugsalai, 14 from Jamshedpur East and 15 candidates from Jamshedpur West.
A total of 1630 polling booths will be set up for the voting comprising 225 at Bahragora, 252 at Ghatshila, 279 at Potka, 318 at Jugsalai, 264 at Jamshedpur East and 292 at Jamshedpur West.
Moreover, 7784 polling personnel will be involved in process of voting. A total of 990 at Bahragora, 1109 at Ghatshila, 1228 at Potka, 1399 at Jugsalai, 1452 at Jamshedpur East and 1606 at Jamshedpur.
