Jamshedpur: Violence erupted at a meeting convened by AJSU at the convoy booking yard in Telco on Wednesday.
Several officials of the booking office were beaten up for starting booking notwithstanding a warning by the agitating AJSU leaders.
Sources said police reached the spot but took delayed action in the case. Several persons were injured in the incident.
AJSU activists went on rampage at the scene as they vandalized furniture and office property for several hours. They said the convoy booking should be discontinued till the conclusion of the meeting.
The booking of convoys started after the meeting. A total of 441 chassis were booked after the meeting.
The AJSU leaders present at the meeting included Chandragupt Singh, Babar Khan, Kanhaiya Singh and Joginder Singh.
Sources said the convoy drivers will be putting up a demonstration at Tata Motors gate tomorrow.
