Chaibasa, March 27: The court of Principal District and Sessions Judge of West Singhbhum here on Monday sentenced two people to life imprisonment in a murder case registered at Chakradharpur police station. It also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict. The case dates back to the year 2021. On 24th May, around 8 pm, Koda Khandait had gone to bathe in a small pond located in village Lupungbeda.
While taking a bath, a fishing net got stuck in his leg. As soon as he lifted the net, Bagun Tuntia and Choran Tuntia, who were already hiding there, attacked him with sticks and stones on the head and chest with the intention of killing him. Khandait was seriously injured in the incident and was
taken to Sub-Divisional Hospital Chakradharpur for treatment. He was referred to Sadar Hospital Chaibasa for better treatment. He was declared dead on the second day. In the course of investigation, Bagun Tuntiya and Choran Tuntiya, accused in the FIR of the case, were arrested by the Chaibasa police and sent to judicial custody.
