Jamshedpur, March 27 : Tata Steel on Monday organised an Environment Meet for Indian Operations at the Beldih Club, Jamshedpur. Over 50 participants including representatives of Environment Management from various sites across Indian operations attended the meet.
Suresh Kumar, Vice President, Shared Services, Tata Steel inaugurated the Environment Meet alongside B.K. Das, Vice President, Iron Making, Tata Steel. Earlier, S.K. Pati, Chief, Environment Management, Tata Steel welcomed all the participants.
Prof. L. Raghu Ram Tata of XLRI was the key note speaker who explained Eco-System Services and then spoke on associated Business Risks & Opportunities. Deepak Rai, State Manager of UNDP deliberated on the Climate Change Action Plan agenda in Jharkhand and the opportunities for the Private Sectors.
Pankaj Satija, General Manager, (OMQ Division), Tata Steel, Ashok Kumar ,Chief Technology Officer, Tata Steel, Anup Sahay, Chief, Corporate Strategy & Planning, Tata Steel Manish Mishra, Chief, Regulatory Affairs, Tata Steel, Vishnawath Malagi , Head(Compliance), Tata Steel were eminent speakers who spoke on diverse range of subjects covering Current Regulatory Scenario, Environmental Compliance, Stakeholder perspective of Environment challenges and Technological Roadmap & Business Outlook in Iron & Steel.
The 2-day Environment Meet is an Annual event for the Environment fraternity aimed at the objective of capacity building, horizontal deployment of good practices, networking and deliberations on relevant issues.
This is third such event since the First Environment Meet which was held in March 2015. The meet was also attended by Operations & Maintenance representatives, central functions like Research & Development, Process Technology, Compliance etc.
A Technological Meet is going to deliberate on various technological solutions around Zero Effluent Discharge, which currently the regulators are pursuing seriously to alleviate adverse impacts of water pollution.
