Two CPI Maoist rebels arrested, can bomb recovered at Kandra

Jamshedpur: Police on Monday arrested two CPI Maoist rebels from Kalajore village under Kandra police station area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Those arrested were identified as Sitaram Majhi (23) and Mahasingh Sardar (26), both residents of Kandra.

The police said the arrested persons were members of the banned rebel outfit CPI-Maoist’s area commander Maharaj Pramanik. The police have recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, a can bomb weighing 15 kgs and 300 metres of electric wire for detonating the IED.

Sources informed that there are intelligence inputs that CPI (Maoist) may indulge in demonstrative acts of violence by targeting security forces and economic infrastructure such as trains, buses, railway stations, bus stations and other places where people are likely to gather in significant numbers. A strict vigil would be kept on the non-government commercial establishments. Even the security would be beefed up at some of the naxal prone areas,” said a police official.
