TSTI to introduce short-term courses for Jharkhands industrial requirements


    Jamshedpur, Nov 28: The first-ever annual function of over-one-year-old Tata Steel Technical Institute (TSTI), Burmamines, Jamshedpur, was held held here on Saturday. Sunil Bhaskaran, VP (Corporate Services), Tata Steel, was present as the chief guest to inspire the cradle’s students.

    Students enrolled in the two courses offered by the institute – diploma in mechatronics and electrical and electronics – were all ears to Bhaskaran, who also unveiled a bronze statue of J.N. Tata, the founder of Tata Steel, on the campus of TSTI, set up in 2014.

    “Given the type of training this institute is offering, you will get better jobs to stand on your feet. Education and skill development make a big difference to one’s personality. And each of you will experience that difference to become an icon for others,” Bhaskaran said.

    Later, he felicitated the meritorious students of the institute.

    Addressing the students, Capt. Shubhankar Purkayastha, principal, TSTI, Burmanines said, “In the days to come, we are going to scale up the quality of teaching offered here. We are also looking forward to introducing short-term and tailor-made programmes to cater to the industrial requirements of Jharkhand.”

    Biren Bhuta, chief, CSR, Tata Steel, Amitabh, head, skills, CSR, Debashish Chatterjee, senior manager, skills, CSR, Stephen Louis, associate director (finance and administration) and the staff of Tata Steel Technical Institute were present on the occasion.
