Jamshedpur, Sept. 23: National Metallurgical Laboratory ( NML), chief scientist and advisor management, Dr. N. G. Goswami, said that NML is attempting to share its knowledge base to the participating institutes for the benefits of both and the hands-on experience adds to create more industry conscious individuals who are ready to tackle the issues facing by our industries.
The feedback received are quite encouraging. �We, at NML are pleases to inform you that henceforth we shall be conducting more such program. In fact we would like to explore conducting such user specific program at the plant site/users site. These will enhance the capacity building of an organizational asset management� he noted.
He was addressing the valedictory function of the four-day Professional Training Programme (PTP) on Metallurgical Analysis of Failures (MAF 2016) organised by Business Development and Monitoring Division (BDM) along with Materials Science & Technology (MST) Division of CSIR- NML.
In his welcome address, Dr. Somitra Tarafder, chief scientist & head, MST Division of CSIR-NML, highlighted about the active participation of delegates along with scientists of CSIR-NML in the four day training programme of Metallurgical Analysis of Failures (MAF 2016).
He expressed his happiness, especially for the interactive discussion during and after the deliberation and also congratulated the team for the successful completion of the training programme.
Amitava Mitra, HOD of Business Development & Monitoring (BDM) Division highlighted the future collaborative opportunities with CSIR-NML, mutually beneficial R & D activities in the areas of materials and metallurgical engineering and requested participants to visit NML for technical consultation and experimental work.
He also mentioned that CSIR-NML would help in establishing R & D laboratories in engineering institutions for carrying out research in the area of materials and metallurgy.
Feedback session was organized where delegates shared their learning experience in this four day programme. Delegates expressed their happiness and mentioned that they learned a lot from this well designed training programme.
Participants from Tata Power requested CSIR-NML to organize a training programme for power plant engineers. Delegate from NTPC was keen to attend similar programme in future with many of his colleagues. Cases of failure analysis of automobile components were the most interesting session for delegates from Shri Ram Pistons.
Dr. Mita Tarafder, Senior Principal Scientist of BDM Division, Joint Co-coordinator, PTP, MAF 2016, presented the feedback on the �Quality of the course content�, �Quality of the lectures�, Quality of the Hands-on sessions� and �Support services� received from the participants. The feedback was found to be excellent, nevertheless there are areas where opportunity for improvement is required.
In his vote of thanks, Dr. Goutam Das, Senior Principal Scientist of MST Division & coordinator, PTP, MAF 2016, mentioned that the effort of CSIR- NML was to make this programme a successful collaborative event and thanks to the delegates, organizers, media persons and guests for making MAF 2016 a successful event.
