Jamshedpur: Unidentified criminals looted cash worth Rs 1 lakh from one Sumit Agrawal, a trader, in broad daylight near South Park under Bistupur police station area on Saturday, police said. They also reportedly assaulted the trader who was admitted to Tata Main Hospital.
Quoting the victim, police said the incident took place around 1 pm near Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya, South Park branch. Agrawal, who was returning from Adityapur, was stopped by three strangers near the school. The accused persons reportedly tied the limbs of the victim and snatched the cash from him. They also beat up the victim severely and tore his clothes before decamping, police said.
Cops said the incident looked suspicious. They said an investigation had been started on the basis of the complaint. DSP (CCR) Sudhir Kumar and the OC of Bistupur PS Srinivas visited TMH to take the victim’s statement. Sniffer dogs were pressed into service to aid investors.
Agrawal said he was a trader in electronic goods. He said he had gone to Adityapur and Gamharia to get some bills encashed.
