The assailant, Sunny Pathak, called the victim Ravi Gupta from his home at about 8 pm and shot him dead near his house and went over to the victim’s house to inform his family members that Ravi was shot at by a gang of four bike-borne criminals.
The victim who was critically injured was rushed to MGM Medical College Hospital, but the doctors on emergency duty declared him as brought dead. Son of Ramji Gupta, Ravi was the younger of Gupta’s two sons. Ramji runs a vegetable shop at Mango and Ravi would help his father in the business.

“He was under suspicion ever since the murder took place. The assailant Sunny too has confessed his crime and also revealed that there was no one else involved in the murder of Ravi,” said the SP (City).
According to the senior police officer, both Sunny and Ravi would know each other very well as they resided in the same locality.
“As per our information as the two knew each other, they were consuming liquor at a place near their house last night. During booze, the duo had altercation for a short time. Subsequently, Sunny shot Ravi from the close range, causing the latter to get critically injured,” said Anand.
The assailant had shot Ravi in his chest, causing him to fall on the ground. But as the assailant had himself called Ravi from his house late in the evening, he crafted a story and informed Ravi’s parents that a gang of unidentified bike-borne criminals had shot him.
