Tatanagar: Several trains cancelled, short terminated due to agitation

Jamshedpur, March 30: Train services of South Eastern Railway ( SER) were disrupted on Wednesday due to agitation by a group of people at Bamra station in the Rourkela-Jharsuguda section of Chakradharpur Division. As a result, several trains have been cancelled /short terminated/controlled.

According to reports, locals under the banner of Rail Kriyanusthan Committee held a ‘rail roko’ at the Bamra railway station in Sambalpur district (Odisha) demanding the stoppage of various trains at the railway station.

The following trains were cancelled: 08167 Rourkela – Jharsuguda MEMU Passenger Special, 08168 Jharsuguda – Rourkela MEMU Passenger Special, 18175 Hatia – Jharsuguda MEMU, 18176 Jharsuguda- Hatia MEMU, 18125 Rourkela-Puri Express and 22840 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Express.

Short Termination of Train on March 30: 18126 Puri- Rourkela Express will be short terminated at Rairakhol and will run back to Puri from Rairakhol. 12871 Howrah-Titlagarh Ispat Express will be short terminated at Rourkela and will run back as Passenger Special from Rourkela to Howrah 12872 Titlagarh-Howrah Ispat Express will be short terminated at Sambalpur and will run back as Passenger Special from Sambalpur to Titlagarh.

The following trains have been controlled at various stations enroute due to the agitation : 18638 Bengaluru Cant – Hatia Express, 12833 Ahmedabad- Howrah Express, 18452 Puri – Hatia Express, 22839 Rourkela- Bhubaneswar Express, 18005 Howrah-Jagdalpur Express, 12834 Howrah-Ahmedabad  Express, 18477 Puri-Yog Nagari Rishikesh Express and 13288 Rajendranagar-Durg Express.

An official at Tatanagar said due to agitation the decision has been taken. He said that they are hopeful that the long distance trains will get normalized from tomorrow.

“We have no choice but to cancel the trains. The step was taken keeping in view the safety of passengers. The agitation has badly affected the traffic,” said the official.
