Jamshedpur, Feb 26: Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel Limited has been elected as the Chairman of CII Jharkhand State Council for the year 2021-22. His name was announced at the first meeting of the reconstituted CII Jharkhand State Council held in Jamshedpur today.
Tapas Sahu, Managing Director & CEO, Highco Engineers Pvt Ltd has been elected as the Vice Chairman of CII Jharkhand State Council for the year 2021-22.
Chanakya Chaudhary is a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) – Mechanical from BITS, Pilani. He has undergone various prestigious management programs like Young Managers Program at INSEAD, France in 1997, Tata Group Executive Leadership Program in 2007 conducted by Michigan Ross School of Business and Executive MBA from CEDEP, France in 2008-09. Mr Chaudhary joined Tata Steel in 1988 as Graduate Engineer Trainee in the Raw Material Division at Jharia, Dhanbad, India. During his stint in the Collieries division, he worked in various capacities and was subsequently transferred to Total Quality Management (TQM) (Business Excellence Group), wherein he was responsible for working with various divisions of Tata Steel for getting ISO-9000 certification. He has worked as a lead assessor for Tata Group in its journey of Business Excellence and for JRD Quality Value Award based on the Malcom Baldridge Award Criteria. He was assigned as Chief Resident Executive, Delhi in 2004 and was handling Corporate Affairs of the Company. He was designated as Group Director-Corporate Communication & Regulatory Affairs on 1st November 2013 and was responsible for spear heading the Communication Strategy and Policy Advocacy for the Company. In May 2018, Mr. Chaudhary was entrusted with the role of Vice President, Raw Materials from where he has driven many improvements to meet the current challenges and making Tata Steel’s Raw Material Supply chain robust and sustainable. With effect from November 2018, Mr Chaudhary has been appointed as the Vice President, Corporate Services where he will be handling the functions of Corporate Administration, Corp. Communications, CSR, Security, Aviation, Sports and Medical services. Chaudhary serves on the Board of New Millennium Iron Corporation, Canada; Mjunction Services Limited, S&T Mining Company Private Limited, T M Mining Company Limited and also as Chairman of the Board of Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Ltd (a 100% subsidiary of Tata Steel).
Tapas Sahu is a B.E. & MBA and has 18 years of experience in Light to Heavy Fabrication job development and Execution and Press shop Technology. He was the Chairman of the CII Jamshedpur Zonal Council and continues to be an elected member of the CII Jharkhand State Council. He has also served as the Chairman of the Young Indians Jharkhand Chapter. Mr Sahu is a Regional Council Member of Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and Eastern Region Executive Committee Member for National HR Council. He was awarded the Rashtriya Nirman Ratan Award from Economic Growth Society of India, New Delhi. He is also a Visiting Faculty to variuos Engineering and Graduate Colleges. Mr Sahu is a 6-Sigma Green Belt holder and is involved in the design, development and manufacturing of special project vehicles of Tata Motors – Prima, T1 Racing Truck, Defence vehicles (Minusuma, Diggi etc.). Sahu has led a team to participate and win CII Avantha Competitiveness Award at the National level. He is involved in up gradation of Education Institutes (ITI & Schools) and Skill Development initiatives at local level for under privileged. Mr Sahu has experience of Production Management and Project Implementation, hands in experience of SAP implementation in TATA Technologies Limited, PUNE. He is responsible for coordination of development and implementation of SAP solutions in Highco which is under process.
