Jamshedpur, March 3: In his maiden address to the people of the city during Founders Day function organised at Postal Park in Bistupur, the newly appointed chairman of Tata Group, N Chandrasekaran today termed Tata Steel and Jamshedpur as two iconic brands that were inseparable vibrant brands for Tata Group. Such a level of vibrancy cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. I promise to maintain the legacy of the city and will live up to the responsibility bestowed on me, he said.

Addressing the citizens after paying floral tributes to the Tata group founder, JN Tata, Chandrasekaran said, I could see the city true to the founder’s dream in terms of the roads, facilities it has, green cover and evolving nature of the city and Tata steel where they seem to continue to reinvent themselves so that they can make it a cosmopolitan, smart, futuristic, digital, model city for the rest of the world to see.

For me, it is a very big inspiration to be here and I would want to come back here many more times because the city and Tata steel have a lot to offer and I look forward to justifying this great responsibility with a lot of humility, added the chairman while asking the citizens of Jamshedpur to treat him as one of them.

The former TCS CEO further said, It is such a great honour and privilege to attend the 178th Founders Day celebration in Jamshedpur.

I have spent only the last 36 hours here and this is my second visit to the city but I can feel the enthusiasm and energy of the people as well as the original inspiration with which the founder had dreamt of a city which is alive today and making phenomenal progress in terms of adapting itself to the modern times whether it be the initiatives to become digital or smart city or the togetherness of the community and the industry.

Chandra went on to share his city experience, I have been witnessing, observing and feeling the impact of the city on human lives. It is the finest example anywhere in the world one could see. For me, it is a very inspirational moment.

I take a lot of inspiration from the people of Jamshedpur, from Tata steel, its founder, the things I saw here at the CFE archives and many other things.

I am very grateful for the opportunity provided to me by the Tata Group and Ratan Tata and I look forward to being here many more times and being with you and getting integrated into this community.
