Jamshedpur : Urban Services department of Tata Steel organised a Sports-cum-Mela event today on the occasion of �World Disability Day� at Armoury Ground, Jamshedpur.
The event aimed to motivate and boost the morale of the special children, and in the process instilled a sense of integration with mainstream society.
Various sporting events were organised on this occasion, which witnessed participation of nearly 400 special children, from various age groups, represented by 24 different NGOs across Jamshedpur.
Chief Guest for the occasion, Mr Sunil Bhaskaran, Dy. VP (CS), Tata Steel acknowledged that the children who participated in the programme were not disabled but were far more abled than the rest. He appreciated the efforts and courage of the participants and their parents.
In his address to the gathering, Mr Sanjay, Head, Urban Services, Tata Steel said that the specially-abled children need to be supported and looked after to enable them to live life like a normal child.
He added that the main objective behind organising such an event was to make the participants feel that they are as capable and competent as others.
The programme concluded with prize distribution ceremony and a cultural programme, presented by the special children.
