Tata directors to meet in Jamshedpur today after 25 years


    Jamshedpur, March 1: Newly appointed chairman of Tata Sons Natarajan Chandrasekaran landed in Jamshedpur to attend the 178th Founder’s Day celebration here today. Tata Steel Group executive director (finance and corporate) Koushik Chatterjee was also seen disembarking the chartered plane at Sonari Airport on Wednesday along with the chairman Chandrasekaran.

    Director Ishaat Hussain has already arrived in the city. Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons will be arriving here tomorrow to participate in the companys Board of Directors meeting (on the same day) going to be held in Jamshedpur after a gap of 25 years.

    Also attending the meeting will be other company directors including former SBI chairman O.P. Bhatt and chairman emeritus of Eicher Group of Companies Subodh Bhargava (both independent, non-executive directors), D.K. Mehrotra (non-independent and non-executive directors); Tata Steel managing director (India and Southeast Asia) T.V. Narendran; Andrew M. Robb, Dr Peter Blauwhoff and Mallika Srinivasan (all independent, non-executive directors). Dr Peter Blauwhoff and Mallika Srinivasan will be arriving for the first time after being appointed the directors of the company.

    The Board meeting will be held in the board room at the MD Office where seven LED screens have been put. As many as 100 new computers have been put up to provide reports to the directors in time. Later on March 2, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman Tata Sons, will switch on the illumination at the Founder’s Statue in Jubilee Park at 6:30 pm.

    All top officials of Tata Group will also participate in the main event to be held on March 3 inside the company premises and pay homage to the company founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata.

    The new chairman along with Ratan Tata will also visit Tata Motors and will pay floral tributes to the bust of JN Tata at general Office. Chandrasekaran is also slated to flag off the Prima Racing Truck and will inspect the line four and truck testing area. In line four vehicles for the army is manufactured. Tata Motors company management has made all preparations for the Founder’s Day celebrations.

    The directors are slated to attend the dinner on the Founder’s Day and will leave the city on March 4.
