Student of Jamshedpur Workers’ College dies in a bus, police suspect poisoning


    Jamshedpur, June 22: Mystery shrouded the death of an 18-year-old youth whose body was found in a long-distance bus that arrived at the Sitaramdera bus terminus from Darbhanga in Bihar on Thursday morning.
    The deceased was identified as Abhijit Kumar Singh, a resident of Shiv Mandir area at Ulidih in Mango and was a student of Jamshedpur Workers’ College.

    The bus conductor had seen the dead body and informed the Sitaramdera police station. The police subsequently found out the whereabouts of the deceased’s local guardian and informed them before making an inquest of the body. The police subsequently removed the body to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.

    The conductor of the bus said the youth had boarded the bus at Darbhanga Bus stand yesterday and was ill after at Dalsinghsarai in Samastipur district. The conductor said that it was like the youth was already dead at at Rajauli.

    The deceased’s uncle, Vinod Singh has, however, alleged the conductor and other staff of the bus to have neglected in dealing with the ill-health of Abhijit. In an FIR lodged with the Sitaramdera police station , Singh has alleged that when his nephew fell ill, the staff of the bus should have given him proper treatment.

    Later Singh stated that Abhijit would study in Jamshedpur Workers’ College and failed in the intermediate examination recently. OC, Siaramdera, Rameshwar Oraon said this appeared to be a case of poisoning.
