Jamshedpur, June 6: Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL) organised a workshop on the occasion of World Environment Day at Narwa Pahar situated management training centre.
Chief guest for the occasion C K Asnani, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of UCIL, said, there is need to create a balance between environment & development for progress. ‘Science has developed many such techniques which could have least impact on the environment and progress can also continue’, added Asnani.
He further said that only 40 per cent of the energy demand of the country has been fulfilled and atomic energy is less harmful for the environment. He stressed on creating a system which has a least affect on the environment.
Finance director Devashish Ghosh, Dr. SK Sarangi and SK Srivastav also expressed their views. Earlier the chief guest CK Asnani was felicitated by offering them a plant sapling.
On the occasion an essay writing competition on the topic water conservation and environment was also held were Vivek Kumar Singh and Annu Marak were awarded for better writing.
In the slogan competition Vikas Kalindi and Luv Sardar were the winners. Also present at the function were SC Bhoumik, PN Sarkar, SK Sharma, Uday Kumar, Stelin Hembrom and others.
