Noamundi, Jan. 5: The new building of the St. Mary`s School at Noamundi was inaugurated by Ruchi Narendran on Thursday.

On the occasion, Ms Narendran interacted with the school students and guided them on their career and future prospects.

In order to provide quality education in the mining area, St. Mary`s School was set-up at Noamundi in the year 2006 with 137 students upto Class 5. The school has come a long way since 2006. The school received ICSE affiliation and introduced the digital smart classes in April 2012. First ICSE batch of the school passed out in 2014 with all students scoring above 60%.

It was becoming difficult to run the school in the existing building upto Class X, hence a new building was constructed by Tata Steel with basic facilities like bigger classes from KG to Class X, computer room, library, laboratory and allied infrastructure and additional facilities for extracurricular facilities like auditorium, music room, dance room, art room and the like. Presently, the school has 800 students and 29 teachers.

The foundation stone of this new building was laid on October 7, 2013 at Noamundi.
