Jamshedpur, July 26: With the domestic signing done, Jamshedpur Football Club (FC) has turned its focus to recruit foreign players to complete the squad of 25.

Spanish defender Jose Luis Espinosa Arroyo, better known as Tiri in the Indian football circuit, is the frontrunner to land a contract with the newly-formed franchise Jamshedpur FC.

Tiri who was associated with Atletico de Kolkata ended as the Indian Super League title-winners last season and according to reports he might be moving away from Kolkata based club ahead of next season’s ISL.

Jamshedpur FC head coach Steve Coppell on Wednesday said that they were in talks with the Spanish defender and refused to reveal much.

Sunil Bhaskaran, Vice-President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, confirmed the reports, saying that they were in talks with the former Atletico de Kolkata star but said that nothing has been finalised.

Asked about the reports doing the rounds that two of ATK’s Indian Super League title-winners from last season, Sameehg Doutie and Tiri, are all set to join Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur FC, Sunil Bhaskaran addressing a press conference at CFE on Wednesday, said, ‘Definitely we are in talks with Tiri but would not like to share anything about Sameehg Doutie’.

Ishfaq Ahmed, assistant coach, Jamshedpur FC, said, We can’t reveal anything before the official signing is done as it hampers the player’s recruitment with another club during the next season.

Both Doutie and Tiri are currently free agents whose previous experience in the ISL stands them in good stead to earn lucrative contracts in the cash-rich Indian league.
