Jamshedpur, Aug. 4: Unknown criminals decamped with cash and gold ornaments along with other valuables worth over Rs 15 lakh from a house at NH Colony under Mango police station area in the wee hours of Thursday.
The criminals entered the house when the owner Shahnawaz Perveen (50) had gone to her younger sister’s house at Ashiana Gardens in Mango on the previous day night.
In this connection, the police have registered a case of burglary against unknown on the FIR lodged by Shahnawaz, a widow and used to live alone.
According to information, the burglars took away gold ornaments worth over Rs 13 lakh, cash worth Rs. one lakh and electronic goods, including a large-size LCD by breaking open the back door of the house Shahnawaz said she is in state of shock and doesn�t know who were involved in it.
She stays alone at the house as her daughter studies in a college in Hyderabad and son at a college in Mumbai. She said she would move to her younger sister’s house at Ashiana Gardens along the NH-33 in Pardih every night, and would return to her house in the morning. �I had been to my sister’s house leaving the house under lock and key.
As I was preparing to return home at about 7 a.m. today, some of the neighbors informed me that back door was open.
On receiving the information, I immediately rushed back home and found the almirah and boxes in living room were broken and clothes as well as jewelry boxes lying strewn on the floor. Immediately, I informed the police,” Shahnawaz said.
“The gold ornaments which were stolen were from my marriage solemnized 25 years ago and were precious,” said the woman while talking to the newsmen. Officer-in-charge of Mango police station Fulan Nath confirmed about the burglary at the NH Colony in Mango. “We are investigating.
The criminals had entered into the vacant house from back side and fled the scene through the same route. They have taken away the gold ornaments and cash by breaking open a steel almirah with an iron rod which we have seized,” said Nath.
The officer-in-charge, on being queried, said that the burglars might have followed the victim’s movement closely and must be aware of the fact that the land-lady would stay at her sister’s house in the night. Otherwise, the criminals would not have been able to burgle the house with such an ease.
