Seraikela: Worker’s dead body found, road blocked demanding investigation

Seraikela: Sensation gripped the local area after the dead body of a 24-year-old youth Digardhwaj Mahto alias Samrat Mahato of Laxmiposi Tola Rugudisai of Rajnagar, was found lying in suspicious condition in the verandah of his rented house on Tuesday.

The victim used to work in Hero Service Center located in Rajbandh, living in a rented house in Kudarsain under Seraikela police station. The circumstances in which his body was found have raised eyebrows of many as sexually objectionable material was also lying in front of his dead body.

On receiving the information, the police took the body in their possession and sent it to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. After getting information about the incident, the relatives and villagers of the deceased reached the post-mortem house and refused to accept the dead body demanding to investigate the incident.

They blocked the Seraikela Tata main road in front of the post-mortem house. In which women were also included. The local police, while talking to the family members, requested them to remove the road jam, but the relatives refused to move.

After this, Gamharia police station in-charge Krishna Murari and Kandra police station in-charge Rajan Kumar reached the site with police force and removed the road jam by pressing force. During this, the police also scuffled with the women. In the absence of the female police, the protestors were assaulted by the Gamharia police station in-charge.

Deceased lived on rent

The deceased lived in a rented house of Pradeep Chaudhary in Kudarsarai. On Monday at 1:00 pm, Mahto went to eat after taking leave. He said that he would not come to work in the evening. On Tuesday morning, his body was lying in a suspicious condition in the verandah of his rented house. When other tenants saw it, they informed the landlord Pradeep Chaudhary. Chaudhary informed about this to Seraikela Police Station, and the relatives of the deceased. On getting information, Seraikela police reached the spot and took stock of the incident, took the dead body in its possession and sent it to the post-mortem house of Seraikela Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

Mahto was the only son of his parents. He has a sister who is married. Indranath Mahto, the maternal uncle of the deceased, said that Mahto had studied at his maternal uncle’s house. He said that there was a mark of deep injury on the waist, which is clear that he has been murdered.
