Seraikela, April 8: The court of Principal District and Sessions Judge of Seraikela-Kharsawan Vijay Kumar today sentenced one Sukhdev Singh Sardar to rigorous life imprisonment in connection with the double murder case of Seraikela. It also slapped a fine of Rs 7000 on the convict.
The case dates back to 1st November 2014 when the accused had allegedly shot dead two persons, Prakash Kumar Mahato and Gopal Kumar Mahato, near Jhuridih Nullah under Seraikela police station area. Prakash was an activist of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha. He had gone to Bankipur with his friend Gopal to attend a meeting with villagers. On 3rd November, police recovered the bodies of Prakash and Gopal on a village road.
During investigation, cops found the involvement of Sukhdev in the incident. An FIR was lodged against Sukhdev on the information of Narayan Mahato, father of Prakash.
